review 1: MORE LIKE 3-1/2 STARSI found this book entertaining, although in my opinion, not quite as good as some other similar-style mysteries I've read recently. It is a quick read and I'm not sorry I read it. The series definitely has potential and at some point I may give the next book in the series a try. However, I can't give it as enthusiastic a recommendation as I can other books in this amateur sleuth genre (for example, Victoria Laurie's Abby Cooper series or Rhonda Pollero's Finley Anderson Tanner series).
review 2: This book was a pretty quick read and the supporting characters were likable. The actual mystery was fairly well done with the conclusion not being to obvious until towards the end. However, I didn't like Maggie at all. She was hard to buy as a p... moresychologist and was just kind of flat overall. Also, didn't find the love interest with the detective believable at all. Not a bad book but won't read the next one. less
