review 1: I enjoyed the plot and its fast pace, but didn't care for Alex James, the protagonist. I found it hard to believe that anyone would actually have all the charms and skills that Kelly gave her, yet still make so many dumb choices, particularly the choice to open the door in the apartment, only to find Malik standing there. I read a fair number of mysteries, and I can't say I found James' sad back story believable, either. I know it was meant to build empathy for her but it just didn't jibe with her behaviors throughout the book.
review 2: This book surprised me - I enjoyed it more than I expected! Good writing, good pacing, an appealing protagonist, fun details. The mixing of first and third person narration threw me a little, but it wasn't a deal breaker. As
... more usual, I was somewhat impatient with the attempts to eliminate our heroine (it never seemed worth the risk - she never really held damaging information), but overall, a good read. less

Pretty decent little thriller. It was sort of predictable but still worth the quick read.
