review 1: I was so excited to read this story. And the concept was amazing! But then I actually started reading and I was a little disappointed. The first thing I noticed was the writing was kind of juvenile. I found myself getting irritated with the author when she would make statements about Maggie like, "she thought this" or "wondered that". We already knew what she was thinking and feeling!!!! So I was a little frustrated when the author kept trying to spell it out for us. The second thing I noticed was during the first half of the book, information on the Lacey's was interwoven with Maggie's story. But the second half of the book, the Lacey's kind of drop off. Overall, I liked the story...but not really how it was delivered.
review 2: I really enjoyed the history of
... more this novel. The author definitely did some homework on the personal 'inner-workings' of all aspects of the war. I found that personal touch very endearing. As a history buff, it worked for me. If you don't like history, well, you probably won't like this novel, as it just drips with the stuff! :) I liked the 'diary' pages and 'letters' that were supposedly from the real people that the novel Pride and Prejudice was based on. This was definitely a fun 'pass the time' book, and I didn't feel that my time and mind were wasted by the end of it. less

Not my favorite but didn't really dislike it - long - could have been shorter and more enjoyable.

This book could have been so good. The story was fun and engaging. But it was poorly written.

The book had a lot of potential, but for some reason it was just boring to me...
