review 1: How do different animals say hello? This may be quite the important question that young readers who love animals have. And this book has the answers! Each page has an illustration of two animals who are about to say hello (two dogs, two cats, two chickens, two beetles, etc.). Then there is a smaller page (it is almost like a little lift-the-flap flap) that can be turned and the two animals are then saying “hello” with the various animal onomatopoeia. (Seriously, this seems to be the week to talk about onomatopoeia!) This is a fun way for kids to say different animal sounds and enjoy turning the smaller pages to see how the illustrations change. Both of which I know toddlers especially will love. Fun book!
review 2: I've loved Mary Murphy ever since I found ... more"I Like it When" and read it over and over to my infant son. This one would be perfect for a toddler storytime--or even a Baby Time. Lot's of opportunity to make fun sounds and noises as the animals say hi to each other. In thinking of all the preschoolers I visit, I think that this may be a bit simple for them--which is too bad because they would love all the funny sounds! This would be great to share one on one with the young child in your life! less
