review 1: I really like the idea of witches in a Swedish contemporary small town. The descriptions of the ordinary life in this place ring very true with my experience of even smaller Swedish communities from my adolescence. The take on magic is a mixture of the authors' own invention and genre-standards, which works quite well. The best thing about these stories, to me, is probably the cast of different witches. I especially like the bookish Minoo, who reminds me of me in some ways.
review 2: I'm enjoying this series. This was a good follow-up to The Circle - the characters are developing more, as is the storyline. My only real criticism is that the language grated on me frequently. I know it's a YA book, but I do find the language too basic and stilted at time, whereas
... more other YA authors (Patrick Ness, etc) write like a dream. Perhaps it's the translation. Anyway, it was a good read and I'm curious to see how it pans out. Probably 3.5 stars overall. less

Cirkeln var stundtals stapplande, men allt tar sig i Eld (No pun intended). Riktigt bra!
