review 1: This a beautifully heartbreaking book of poetry, focusing on the experience and aftermath of suicide. Rasmussen uses a few themes/objects repetitively - shadows, snow/water, hands - creating a work of echoing images that stay with you long after you read the poems. Favorites of mine include "Outgoing" and "Monet as Verb", but the middle section - the "Elegy in X Parts" - is the core of the collection and emotionally riveting. review 2: On a vacation day morning I read this today. It was autumn like with all the death imagery and constant reverberating back to bring up Matt's brother's suicide. It took over the collection, the death and dealing with it. The poems are powerful and together make me feel a little sad by the losses in my own life. Yes, one revi... moreewer raised a good question, what will Matt write about next? I hope it is just a emotional. less
