Ed Mallory Thriller
review 1: A heart-pounding thriller taking place in the London Underground. At first 3 but then 2 religious fanatics commandeer a subway train and stop it between two major stations. Nobody knows what they want but they are prepared to kill without hesitation if anyone! gets in their way. They may be religious fanatics wanting to make a statement. Bodies are falling right and left as ace negotiator Ed Mallory leads a team desperately attempting to head off this potential catastrophe. Caught in the middle is George Wakeham , the driver of the train. His family is being held hostage so that George will do whatever the leader, Tommy Denning tells him to do. There is something more involved in this.....and that is that somehow MI5 is involved with the impending tragedy and they h... moreave kept important 'intel' from Mallory. As the situation worsens, the London police must do anything and everything possible to stop this before hundreds perish. This fast-paced thriller will keep you awake at night. Dennings has written one heck of a page turner. I expect we will hear more from him in the future.
review 2: I was sent a copy of this novel through Good Read's First Reads - Thank you!! :o)I enjoyed the book - a nice easy-to-read crime novel with a fairly simple plot line... unfortunately it didn't have spark, or oomph for me. I didn't really feel much towards the characters - Ed Mallory, despite being the 'hero' didn't evoke stir any emotion in me. I couldn't make myself feel for him and found myself not really caring whether he suceeded or not. George was the only character I felt a little empathy with, and even then I often wished I had the power to reach into the prose and wring his neck for being a drip and not having a backbone! (k, maybe I'm a little harsh... he found his spine towards the last part of the story)Don't get me wrong, this isn't a bad book, nor is it poorly written. I just feel its a middle of the road crime novel, an easy read to relax with after a couple of heavier reads. less

A little light on character development for me, but, boy, what a page turner.

A quick read. 3.50. Not bad, not great. Some tense moments.
