review 1: Graeme Montgomery has been ordered by the King to marry Eveline Armstrong. She is reported to be daft. There is bad bloods between these two clans. The King wants peace. Graeme goes to the Armstrongs' home. Eveline is beautiful. She is taken with him right away. He is stunned.Eveline was betrothed to Ian McHugh. He is a bad man but charms everyone around him. He threatened her sexually. One day she was out riding and was bucked off her horse. She fell down and ravine and laid there for three days before she was found. Since the clans were at odds, the people did not accept her. Some of the women attack her and call her vile names. They threaten her and she yells at them, shocking everyone. Graeme is called. She tells him her story and some things start to improve. She did everything she to fit in. After a horrible time with some of the women, Eveline went outside to get some fresh air. Graeme comes after her and they work things out. Eveline sees a man. She tries to alert Graeme. He is shot with an arrow. She screams. Even though Eveline is scared of horses since her fall, she rides his horse to the keep and gets help. She stays by his side until he wakes. The clan start to love her. But then she is kidnapped. Who is responsible? Will Graeme ever find her?
review 2: At first I read the description of the book and passed it by. I thought the concept if a "daft" main character a bit daft. However it kept popping up on a recommended list, so I thought I would give it a try, as I enjoy Maya Banks' writing. This story has become one of my favorites! The character development was done so well, there was no struggle to fall in love with the characters. I didn't want it to end! less
