review 1: I enjoyed this book and could really envision all of the characters right from the beginning. It wasn't a book that I couldn't put down however and actually it took me a long time to read because I kept picking up different books in between. The story wasn't that compelling as a whole but parts of it were. I thought it would be better based on the rave reviews but for me it was good but not amazing. I would recommend it though because all in all it was worth the time!

Probably not a book I'll love in twenty years, but a book that I loved now, at age 24, when the book's emphasis on the dissonance between our dreams and our realities resonated with my own fears. The characters were real and full and ... moreflawed and familiar, and, though the questions they grappled with were far from unique, the wittiness and tenderness with which Wolitzer presents their questions gave them meaning again. less
