review 1: THIS REVIEW WITH CONTAIN SPOILERS! Read at your own risk!5 stars out of 5 no doubt! This is such an amazing book!Okay so the charactersKaelyn: I loved her even more in this book. She has changed so much throughout this trilogy and I just want to give her a hug! She blames herself for anything that goes wrong even though she keeps everything together. Gav: WHY! *SPOILER* His death it was crushing. Not just to the book characters but to me. I guess I should stop getting attached to fictional people. He was one of my favorite characters from the start. I liked that he knew sometimes things had to be taken into the hands of the people. I also applaud Megan Crewe for killing him. Don't get me wrong I loved him to no end but not all authors have the guts to make a story realisti... morec and kill a main character. So well I drown in tears I have to say it really did help set the scene.Tobias: He was awesome. There is no other way to describe him. When he caught the illness I some how managed to convince myself that they would get to safety in time and a cure would be discovered. That's probably what made his death so bad for me. I loved that he was so willing to try and help with the vaccine when no one was sure it would actually work. I know everyone did that but he did it for people he didn't even know. And he died for it. And although his death was important to the story I don't think I will ever get over it.Justin: I'll be honest I hated him with a burning passion at the begging. But at the end of the book I have to say I thought he was one of the best characters in the book. I hate how he made stupid choices often but at the same time I realize he was important. He could be so stupid I would've punched him if he were real but he could also be smart. I've always thought it was fantastic writing when an author can just slowly make you love a character. Leo: I liked how smart he was. I liked that when Tobias left he stepped up. Although I would've liked to have known more about him he was a fantastic character. I was glad I knew he would be safe from the illness but at the same time I kinda thought that meant he might bite it from a Warden. I also loved how he and Kaelyn mended what had torn them apart and how they ended up together.Anika: I wasn't to fond of her in the second book but in this book I loved her. She really did want to help and I liked that she had realized that being a Warden wasn't a good idea and ended up helping. I was devastated when she died. Especially considering she was protecting Justin. For some reason her dying didn't cross my mind until it neared. When I realized there was no way she was going to survive I still some how managed to convince myself she'd be alright. God I'm an idiot.This was such an amazing book at I really can't list everything I loved about it but I can list a few things I didn't like.The ending seemed a bit blunt. I wanted to know more. I wanted to know how they rebuilt the world. I wanted to see how Meredith and Tessa did well everyone else took the vaccine to the CDC. But mostly I wanted to know about Meredith.And off the top of my head I really can't think of anything else I didn't like this book was just to fantastic.Overall this was probably one of the best trilogies I have ever read. And as far as last books go this one was fantastic!
review 2: I liked the premise that a virus could make the world a total mess. The thing is, the book isn't interesting enough for me to want to find out what happened in the earlier books. I liked the fact that Kaelyn feels some remorse for the cut throat things she does like completely clearing out a person's supply of gas. It is nice to see a female taking the lead and being in charge but it didn't make me like her very much. Actually I didn't really like any of the characters. It isn't that kind of book. The author could have thought things through a bit better. For example, it isn't very realistic that they couldn't find bleach easily or proper bandages. Everyone has those kinds of things somewhere in the house. The author doesn't seem to know much about radios. You need a major antennae to talk any distance or a repeater or a satellite or just the right weather/sunspot conditions. And you especially need a good power source if you are going to be broadcasting for any length of time. Not only that, anyone can be listening in on your conversation so it isn't a very secure way to communicate when you are hiding. There are a lot of things like that that make the story fall apart. I read it as a stand alone book so maybe that is why the plot seems lacking. The other thing I didn't get was the affection issue. I wasn't sure where that was going with either Gav or Leo. If you can't take a shower or brush your teeth, don't have toilet paper, and on top of that get stuck in a car on a road trip with the same people squished into a vehicle without enough decent food or water I doubt if you will be feeling amorous. Don't be kissing me.But on the other hand, if you are in that situation it also seems likely you would be looking for conversation with other people to find out what is going on and try to pull together resources to solve your problems together. It didn't really make sense that everyone was the enemy. They should have been able to find someone else on the radio if they could actually hear the CDC that would be willing to help them. The ending had a nice twist but it wasn't worth slogging though the whole book to get to that conclusion. less
