review 1: This is part one of a serial and you can tell its going to be intense. Something horrible happened to Faye to cause her to run away and become a prostitute living on the streets. It's obvious she had and still has feelings for her step brother Rhett. I also get the feeling he's attracted to her as well, and is fighting against the attraction with all he has. There were obviously a number of family issues and things in particular her mom overlooked and ignored. We're still left in the dark about a lot of the back story, but we've been given just enough to get us interested and want to see what happens next.I'm not liking the girlfriend. I think she's a distraction for Rhett and I'm ready to see what's going on between him and Faye.
review 2: Yes this was rough,
... moreraw, and gritty, but it was real. I know there are people out there who will hate on it. Maybe call it trashy, graphic, or knock the heroine for being a prostitute. Whatever. It's real. It broke my heart and tore me up inside. It made me feel. I think that is what a book is supposed to do. I read part one and two and so far there isn't a happy ending. There are tons of "dark" romances out there. I find many of them to be rooted in fantasy though. This isn't fantasy. This is real life. SO if you want fantasy dark, this may not be the book for you. If you can handle what life is really like on the streets, I encourage you to read this. Why not 5 stars? I read book 2 and need book 3 like the cocaine addict Faye is!!! And they could've been longer, rather such short serials. less
