review 1: The beginning of the book started strong with sweet, tender romance coupled with mystery and suspense. Joshua, an agoraphobic reclusive author, found a badly battered woman in a car wreck on his compound during a nasty snow storm. Not only was she hurt physically, she also suffered from amnesia. Initially, he found her presence intrusive but gradually grew to care for her. Being meek and timid, he named her “Rabbit”. I loved their interactions – initially when Joshua tried to stay away from her since he knew that her stay would be temporary, there was so much angst. But once they gave into their attraction, they were so utterly adorable together. The suspense was nail-biting and the mystery surrounding Rabbit was engaging. However, the latter part of the book sort ... moreof dragged on and was kind of repetitive. It would be if the author had tightened the ending but overall it was a good read.
review 2: This reads like the basis for a bad TV movie, with overwrought writing and characters that were barely one dimensional. It reminded me of a badly attempted and "modernized" fairy tale, complete with evil husband and the new love who will Save Her. It even has all of the stereotypical elements: a helpless and beautiful woman (not too helpless to run away, just powerless enough to be unable to save herself); a powerful, wicked (and endlessly rich) husband; an also rich (of course!) and slightly dark/damaged (yet still handsome) new prince and love interest; a daring escape plan, etc etc. Nothing new or original here. less
