review 1: Reading this is like taking an interdisciplinary crash course in literature, media studies, political science, etc. Harris-Perry brings some interesting empirical data to studying seemingly abstract ideas like 'shame' and how stereotypes actually affect people's actions and political decision making. It's not a particularly cheery book but smart and eye-opening, and I came away from it with an expanded reading list.
review 2: Interesting book touches on current topics touching black women today I recommend reading with a book club because you are going to want to discuss this book and the topics mentioned like the faces black women wear how other demographics see us. How black men view us and even how we view ourselves. You will be left with one question though
... more. What now, what's next? Which appropriately reflects what black women are asking now. less
