review 1: This is a picture book that has babies being born in all different places it shows through the illustrations that they are all from different cultures. After each place where the baby is born the story says, “as everyone knows, had ten little fingers and ten little toes”. This is a book showing that babies are born in all different places but just because of that it doesn’t make us a different kind of baby, it reminds the readers that we have the ten little fingers and the ten little toes. In all the illustrations the babies look happy to be with each other. The unique language or style sticks out to me because the book uses a lot of repetition. It does not take away from the story though it helps enhance it by making sure the point gets across. An example is, “and ... moreboth little babies, as everyone knows, had ten little fingers and ten little toes” (Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes). The author uses repetition to show importance of being equal.
review 2: Keeping in mind this is for an infant/toddler, I really love this book. It rhymes to keep very young ears interested. The illustrations keep both the adult and the toddler engaged. Very simple and sweet. My favorite thing about the book is how nicely it represents diversity and children from all over the world. My fiancé is from India so I am always excited when I find books with illustrations our children will be able to identify with. less
