Detective Kubu
review 1: This was recommended to me by my equally mystery loving daughter. I thought it was intriguing and thoroughly enjoyed the main character and his world. He has a fun and very appealing family and I think that did a lot right away to my enjoyment of the story. He has a very wise wife and some funny parents who stand on formality even in this casual day and age. He is also wise and has great insight so he perseveres in his search even though he would rather be eating. I will definitely read more about this cast of characters!
review 2: Kubu is called to the Jackalberry bush camp where teacher Goodluck Tinubu and the man who arrived at the camp with him are found murdered. The suspect left the camp early in the morning, and has disappeared. Then another guest
... more at the camp is found murdered in a nearby town; someone tries to kidnap Kubu's wife Joy; and then does kidnap Joy's sister, Pleasant. A large sum of money is involved, but Kubu is pretty sure that Tinubu is not involved in drugs. The case is further complicated when yet another guest at the time of Tinubu's murder is murdered at another guest camp near the border with Zimbabwe. The one captured kidnapper and the others at Jackalberry are not telling the whole story, and Kubu has his work cut out for him. The story is well told. less

Lots of local color and history of Zimbabwean revolution in the second book featuring Kubu.
