review 1: 4 Stars ~ Growing up with the notoriety of her celebrity parents drug overdose deaths, Lily has learnt not to let anyone see she cares. It's been six years since she's been home to London, and now returning to attend her best friend's wedding, Lily is detained at Heathrow because the sniffer dog has found narcotics in her tote bag. Her friend Jordana appeals to her brother to help Lily and with great reluctance Tristan agrees to help the drug addicted starlet. In his mind, Lily hasn't changed; she still the impulsive wild child that he nearly lost his head over with a searing kiss. He hates that with just one look at her he feels that old attraction stirring again. The last person Lily wants help from is Tristan, only with the choice of remaining in jail or agreeing t... moreo Tristan's 24/7 custody, she's forced to go with him. She tries to stand up to his insulting behaviour but she quickly realizes she's just hitting her head against a brick wall, he believes she's guilty. Their heated arguments seem to spark their attraction and neither are able to keep their hands off the other. When Tristan learns with ultimate proof, that Lily is not who he thought, he's guilt ridden for all the years that he's misjudged her.Ms. Condor's debut is filled with angst and sizzling chemistry. I'm glad we were privy to Tristan's thoughts because outwardly he really was an ass when it came to his prejudice of Lily. I loved though how twisted in knots Lily makes him and he does eat some humble pie rather well. Lily is a strong woman who deals not only with her own fame as an actress but has to deal with the fallout of her own parents infamous lifestyle choices. She made her father's advice her mantra, "Never let them see you care" and has perfected an image of outer calm while inside her heart is in turmoil. This eight day whirlwind to HEA is a very enjoyable read. I'm looking forward to reading more from Ms. Condor
review 2: This is a great debut book for Michelle Conder. Engaging characters...the hero, Tristan Garret, who just happens to be gorgeous titled (a duke complete with a beyond fabulous ancestral home!!!)and very rich is Lily Wild's (loved her name....Honey Blossom Lily)best friend's brother who she has been in love since she was a teenager. He has a duty to continue the family's illustrious history by marrying the right woman ..read...rich, titled and so boring...and there is no chance whatsoever Lily fits into that category...a child born to a model and a drugged out rock star, who die from a drug overdose, does not remotely qualify for the role of a duchess!!!!!!!!Lily is an actress who has kept away from Tristan for the last six years, is sweet but has a strong backbone...so not the usual bimbo type actresses around...has never stopped loving him. When she's rescued from a dangerous situation by Tristan, it results in them being with each other 24/7 and both cannot deny the chemistry that exists between them. A few twists in the plot....drugs, flight attendant couriers, some misunderstandings...like Tristan believing Lily has been a drug user and bad influence in his sister, Jordana's life...but all is revealed in the end...and Tristan suddenly discovers how much he loves Lily and what she means to him in his life.Good dialogue between the h/h....fabulous settings...read his family estate in the country....wish I was in Lily's place.Exactly what these stories do to us....take us to another world that is so fabulous and everything gets sorted out and love always wins in the end.I look forward to this author's next book. I think she will become a popular author in the Mills & Boon family. less
