review 1: I was given this book for an honest review.3 starsThis was a good story with a little mystery to go with it. I liked cali and owen. They were strong characters and the were very connected throughout the book. I liked that the author gave a little drama in the book, but it wasn't overly done. I also liked that each character was, in my opinion, needed to make the story complete. That was a great way to tell the story. What I didn't like was, yes they knew each other, but haven't seen each other in ten years, but they are falling all over each other in the first couple chapters. It just didn't seem real to me. I really couldn't get connected to the characters either, there was no balance and I became very frustrated in parts of the book. I did really enjoy the epilogue thoug... moreh, I loved how life seemed to come full circle for them.Cali is a very independent, strong woman. So when she has had enough with her dead end job, she decides to quit. So not knowing what she wants to do next she decides to go to her cabin and relax. When she gets there she meets up with an old friend. Owen is a great guy. Down to earth, has worked hard for what he has. So when he comes to find out that cali is back he knows he has to have her. So they get close and well sparks fly. But there a hiccup, there is someone that doesn't want to see them together and some bad things start to happen. So to figure out who is doing all of this they have to find out who really hates them. This was a good read and only to hope to get the chance to read more from this author.Sent from my NOOK
review 2: Owen and Caliana both spent summers growing up at their cabins by a lake. They were attracted to one another but only shared one kiss before Cali left for college. Years later, Cali has lost a relative she was close to, but now owns the cabin. She just left a job she didn't like and is alone after she was betrayed by her ex-boyfriend. Owen has become very successful, but has never really let go of his feelings for Cali. They quickly realize that they are still very attracted to one another and it seems like everything is falling into place when someone starts threatening Cali. The attraction and chemistry between Cali and Owen is easy to feel, but through a lot of the book I felt that I really didn't get to know either character in any depth. The story is pretty predictable, but I was intrigued to keep reading if only to confirm my suspicions about what was going on. I felt like a lot of the dialogue between Owen and Cali turned hyperbolic pretty quickly and it started to seem like every conversation they had was a speech about their intense feelings. I did enjoy certain parts of this book quite a bit, but overall I would have liked more story and character development. *An ARC was provided in exchange for an honest review less
