review 1: I have currently about 100 free books on my Kindle. Some of them are pretty poor but others turn out to be little gems. 'Eaters' is one of the latter if you're a fan of gruesome zombie action! I never used to be interested in this genre. However recently - and I totally blame being hooked on 'The Walking Dead' for this - I've become strangely fascinated by tales of zombie apocalypses. This one focuses on one ordinary girl, Cheryl and her struggle to survive on her journey to find her family.
review 2: The Eaters is a zombie novel with breathtaking speed and unforgettable characters, as horrifying as a vintage Stephen King novel but with new and even better buckets of gore heaped on top. Michelle Depaepe doesn’t just visit the zombie genre, she smashes into it
... more with a roaring Harley motorcycle, guns blazing. The heroine, Cheryl, is a timid insurance office worker on the way back from a weekend camping trip when without warning the infection begins and the heroine is caught up in a battle for her life. The pace doesn’t let up until the final finale. I gulped this book down in two days flat. The best part of a great horror novel is the connection you feel with the main character and all the people you meet along the way, and I was swept up in Cheryl’s journey from ordinary girl to accomplished zombie killer. The plot never flagged and the twists kept coming until the surprising twist at the end. I highly recommend this novel. less
