Because the supernatural episode didn’t creep me out enough!

One of my greatest pleasures in life is reading Mystery books, and I don’t mean a crime one, but those stories that send fear through every fiber of your body, have your heart clenching, and body sweating! So when I read the summary of this book, I thought it would do just that. I stumbled onto this book late one night, it was short and a quick read so I gave it a go! It was one of those books that you couldn’t put down until that last page, where everything comes to focus, and you finally find out the dark secret.
Bobbie Rowe doesn’t believe in ghost legends if she sees it, if she feels it, then she believes in it. The book follows our female protagonist Bobbie Rowe who’s attending Piper Hall Boarding school, the book starts with Bobbie and her friends celebrating Halloween. When a dare gets her to say Bloody Mary five times in front of a mirror she does it without a care, but then Bobbie is seeing and feeling things that couldn’t possibly be real. With only five days left, she and her best friend race against time before they end up like previous victims of the curse, only to be hit with a dark secret surrounding their school.

So obviously the book adapts the urban legend of Bloody Mary, the author was able to create a dark and frightening atmosphere with his writing that kept me on the edge of my seat. The settings for the book were amazing, I mean a creepy boarding school on top of a hill was perfect, add to that hidden corridors and an old murder case and you have yourself the perfect outlay for a ghost story. What I really enjoyed was the historical part, how the author in his own way wrote how the legend of Bloody Mary came to be.
Drip…Drip…Drip…that’s the sound that you hear that indicates that Mary is present, and damn if that part didn’t keep me on the edge of my seat.
The chapters kept on counting down the 5 days which gave the reader that feeling of terror. You will find yourself feeling more nervous which each passing page. It had that right mix of crime and mystery and wrapped around them that aura of terror.
But the ending… wow, that was what I loved the most about this book. It was clever, and cunning, a twist that will leave your head spinning. I really liked how the author wrote the mystery/legend of Bloody Mary, he kept you guessing and wondering about what really happened to her, and it didn’t disappoint at all.
My only problem with this book was that it was too high paced in some aspects of the story, which in my opinion affected the characterization of several characters in the story!
Overall, my verdict for this book is that I liked it. Yeah, it had a couple of problems, but overall an okay read, with an original story and amazing writing!
