She bought a $800 dress, weding ring and workout in the gym to have the tone body for this party. Haley comes face to face with her ex-boyfriend of 3 years, Adam Johnson, and Amy the woman he had an affair with....only to find out now they are married. Pierce goes along with it and then sparks fly and they go back to his room for the night. The next day they each catch their flights back to New York without know where each lives or their phone numbers. Adam comes to get back with Hale... morey and she tells him to leave and when someone knocks on her door again....she comes face to face with the man she cannot forget, Pierce.
review 2: *spoiler alert*i really didn't like this. it started out okay, i was really rooting for her to get back at her ex. then she basically jumps on his and mouth-sexes him. and i'm like....okay. so, she talked about wanting to show everyone up and show them she was better than how foolish she looked before when he cheated on her, etc. but instead of walking in head held high and acting like a grown woman that has moved on, she throws herself desperately at him to "show him what he is missing". no. sorry it doesn't work that way. she looked desperate and it looked like a desperate attempt to get him back.then came the named "fake husband." i started out liking him. i did. he seemed to play along nicely in her scheme to get the exes back. then he took a turn into jerk territory when he had sex with her when she was basically wasted drunk. okay, so he asked her if she was sure she wanted it first. SHE WAS DRUNK. then little things he did throughout the book just spoke of control freak implanted deeply in jerk territory. like, penetrating her while she was sleeping. again, the author made it quite clear she was drunk, like wasted drunk. even if she was willing during the first session and in her own sound mind enough to have made that decision. he just met her the night before. that is not okay. not in my book. then when she went into the bathroom he was banging on the door and shouting for her to open up and let him in. the woman laughs and lets him in. ...laughs? maybe it was the way it was written but i found no humor in him basically demanding to be let into the bathroom like that. now, had he knocked and said "hey can i get in the shower with you?" or "i think that shower needs another person" or something that would be different. but not banging on the door and demanding entrance.also, in the end of the book, when they get together, he basically backs her into the counter until she agrees to date him. (not that she didn't want to.) but the author even wrote something about how he realized he was doing that and backed up because he didn't want her answer to be based on being harassed into saying yes. does that make him less of a jerk? only slightly. but he still did it. and the "i love yous". ....they knew each other for one night. ONE NIGHT. and like a half a day. and it was 99% sex. you don't LOVE someone after a day and a half and 90% of that time was sex. that was also a hard concept to grasp and believe and relate to. theso, in the end, i had to give a disheartened review. i really was hoping for so much more as i tend to really enjoy the whole "fake significant other" story line but the characters (especially the male lead) really ruined it for me. two stars because the story overall was just okay. the male "hero" was not at all likable and the female lead lost my respect and i didn't care for her after she entered the party. granted, i really don't enjoy reading stories with the jerk in hero clothing. so this may be just a case of "it's not the story it's the reader." i realize this is a kind of thing some women do like and like to read about. so, if you like reading controlling men/jerks in hero clothing then this is the book for you. however, if you prefer your men to be gentlemen and not controlling jerks i say proceed with caution as this book may have you seething in anger at his actions. less
