review 1: This was a tragic book. I think it was important for Michelle to write it and important for us to read it. It was very disturbing and quite horrific to read, but it made me drop to my knees and thank God that he has kept me safe my whole life. I can't even IMAGINE the indescribable and horrible pain and suffering that she endured every day and she is still positive and hopeful for the future. I would have died in the first few days...I am NOT a fighter - she was so strong and clung to the hope of seeing her son again. I would be so bitter and full of hate, yet she is able to look beyond that and not give her captor any more power and live her life full of love and happiness. I can't even fathom how she got through this ordeal nor how she came out as such a strong and re... moresilient beautiful soul. Again, I can't say this was a "good" book, due to the horrible content, but I know it was an "important" book. I would be honored to someday meet such a beautiful soul.
review 2: I followed this in the news, so most of Michelle's story was not new to me. However, she told about her childhood and the events leading up to her kidnapping, which was incredibly sad, but nothing to compare to what she was to face with Castro. This story is her perspective of the years in captivity and the escape, and a little bit about her life now and her plans for the future. I mostly purchased the book to support her and I'm glad I did. I wish her much happiness in the future. less
