review 1: This prequel to Asimov’s Robot stories has Susan Calvin working her first year of residency at Manhattan Hasbro Hospital. She is a psychiatrist who starts her rotation in the Pediatric Intensive Psychiatric Unit or is it Psychiatric Intensive Pediatric Unit—where she “cures” 2 of her patients in the first hundred pages by diagnosing medical conditions that were missed my early residents and staff. Susan falls in love, gets involved in a nanobot research project and discovers hell in the person of a 4 year old sociopath. It’s a little too breezy and not totally believable but it does give an interesting background to the Susan Calvin that we’ll meet later in the stories by Dr. Asimov.
review 2: Cannot recommend this enough for any fan of Asimov. Y
... moreou can really see how the younger Susan Calvin grows into the older version featured in so many of Asimov's stories. Reads as more of a medical procedural/thriller but truly ends as a action packed adventure. Only thing not to like is having to wait for the next one, oh and that it's a trilogy and will come to an end. This would have been a much better I, Robot movie than what they did. If the movie is your only exposure, do yourself a favor and read the original Asimov stories and then this one. less

Heavier on the medical than the robotic, I thought, but really good. Hope she writes more.
