review 1: The core volumes of the series are all much stronger, although it was...interesting...to get a touch of the Tommy Taylor novels themselves. Unfortunately, as described in the main series the Tommy Taylor books hue so closely to so many archetypes that they can't possibly be as cool the reader(s) in this world as it is to the readers within the story world. The bits from Wilson Taylor's journal are far more entertaining. I wish they told even more though...perhaps if I re-read the series they'd be full of great revelations, by itself with most volumes a year more behind me it felt they were just hints and shadows.
review 2: A prequel to The Unwritten series of graphic novels. It does help to have read some of the other graphic novels in the series first so some
... more of the characters will mean something to you.It alternates between Tommy Taylor in his first book and Nelson Taylor in real life writing in his journal about his new series of books starring Tommy Taylor and his new son who he has named Tom Taylor. You learn about Tom's mother and some of the characters that appear in the series.Good background. My graphic novel experience continues. less

A stupendous blending of the real and imaginary; one of the best books in the Unwritten series.

A prequel of sorts to my fave comic book series. As a colleague of mine says, amaze balls.

Beautiful art, and a fun story that build on The Unwritten's mythology

Utterly skippable, overly wordy prequel.
