review 1: The writing style wasn't always 100% to my taste but the idea of cycling all around Britain certainly appeals, I couldn't wait to find out about his next stop and I now have a long list of places I want to visit! I only wish he'd written more about Cornwall, Devon and Dorset as there wasn't as much details on those areas as there was in Scotland and the North East coast of England. Really good read though.
review 2: Mike Carter gets fed up with the rat race and with living in London. He decides (almost on a whim) to cycle around the coastline of the UK. His meanderings have no set plan, no timescales and the further behind he leaves London the more he seems to relax. He seems especially happy in Scotland and a lot of this book is based on the Scottish part of
... morehis journey. His descriptions are great and the interactions he has with people he meets helps me think that humanity is still out there. Culinary descriptions also play a big part, although not quite in the same way as the Inspector Montalbano books.. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it regardless of whether you are heading out on a big trip or not. less
