review 1: Towan is the future king, Tynde as his younger brother is destined to be a priest, he has no choice, when the time comes he will be sent away, emasculated and then serve for the rest of his life. But Towan has been captured and is reported to be taken as a slave by the Kions; Tynde's father insists the he go to Kion to resuce his brother.Tynde, along with Wiam, his protector, and Tai, Towan's man, set off for Kion. Tynde is of a very sensitive nature and is very much attuned to the minds of others, he finds the crowds on his journey daunting. On route he attracts the attention of Kos, a wealthy and influential Kion, and as is the custom on Kion Kos claims Tynde as his own to be his Kundi, a personal lover and constant companion entirely owned by his Master.Tynde is a virgi... moren and entirely chaste, unaware of all sensual pleasure which have always been denied him by one means or another, some quite drastic. His seduction by his Master Kos leaves Tynde confused, torn between his previous strict morality and the sensual pleasures Kos bestows upon him, he has difficulty in coming to terms with what is right and what is wrong. But there are yet greater problems than Tynde's coming to accept his potential role as a Kundi. Will his own people allow him to forsake his original destiny, and where is his brother Towan, not to mention Tai who also seems to have disappeared, and who is behind the forces seemingly bent on harming him? Pets is a fascinating story, Tynde is a delightful creation, trusting and innocent, his deflowering a revelation for him, pleasure he never before experienced. Kos is a tender and caring Master, totally besotted by his new Kundi, determined to keep him at all costs. Much of the story is devoted to the descriptions of their erotic explorations of each other, and Tynde's ever increasing wonder at the experience and pleasures of sex, and pleasing his protective and very possessive new Master. As so much of the story is spent with Tynde and Kos enjoying each other, the plot does not progress very far, and we are left looking forward to Part Two to see how things develop, meanwhile leaving Kos and particularly Tynde in danger for their safety.
review 2: I liked the basic concept a lot and the sex was plenty hot--the theme of Tynde's enforced chastity and subsequent discovery of erotic pleasure was well-done. However, the sex got fairly repetitive even though the book is quite short, and even from the start, the relationship was a little too sweet and luvy-duvy for my taste. I like the pet kink so long as it's not too dehumanizing/humiliating, but there was barely anything like that here. I really wouldn't call this a slave story. less

Too many sex scenes, not enough plot. And where's the next book?
