review 1: Actual rating would be 3.5. The story was interesting enough but I hope the world never comes to this. I found the plotline to be realistic, informative and well thought out. Although it leaned a little to the boring side at times it still proved to be a tragic and heartwrenching read. I loved the female lead in this she is likeable,intelligent, brave and respectable...everything a heroine should be. I couldn't imagine going through everything she went through day in and day out. What an exhausting way to live, makes one appreciate the little things.
review 2: This book was interesting, but it didn't have the hook that makes a book outstanding. The characters were well enough developed, but the writing style didn't make me care about them as much as other books... more I've read and at some points it was hard to stay interested. The main thing that made this book okay instead of great was the complete lack of a climax. There was no particular point in the book where I felt exhilarated and I could not wait to see what happened next. Even at the very end the author could have expanded on the threats and made something more drastic happen, completely wiping out one of the sides so retaliation was impossible, or leaving enough of each side so retaliation was inevitable. There could have been a different "climax" altogether. I just think the ending could have been more interesting, enough to make me want to read the sequel. I would not recommend this book for action lovers like myself. less
