review 1: I so enjoyed reading this 2nd book in this series, it kept me as captivated in it's story as much as the 1st book. The main character in this story finds out about her birth right, a lot of truths are exposed, and she feels disconnected with all the family around her. Another sub-story involves her going to Switzerland to sign some documents, and it is here where the history of the Anabaptists is weaved in the story, a search for a document about her family's land. This was a very well-researched history done by the author. I learned some very interesting facts about the original Anabaptists, that I had never before known about. The mystery surrounding the ancient document, and the hunt for it was fascinating...made me read the book faster than I have read one. In Switzerl... moreand, she finds her birthmother, and comes to terms with many aspects of her life. She returns home and finds out someone, she has always loved does love her, also, and she will be able to have all the things she always wanted- to be a teacher, a wife, and a mother.I am so glad everything worked out for her!
review 2: Ada Rupp grew up with an illness that held her back. Now she is 24, and her illness is under control. As she travels across the US for her sister's wedding, she likes the feel of freedom. She gives up hope of marrying her life-long love, Will Gundy, and loses the teaching job that she had her heart set. Ada then takes the opportunity to travel to Switzerland, to her ancestor's land with Daniel, a Mennonite who is fighting to save the land. While there she meets her birth mother and tries to figure out who she is and what she want in life. I enjoyed this book. I am not one to read any and every Amish novel. I like them; I just don't seek them out. This book gives some great historical information about Amish and Mennonites; however, it also includes travel and non-Amish activities. This makes it very unique. The characters are very well developed, and I really liked all of them. I loved the travel and historical information included, and the love story was sweet and authentic. I would recommend this book without reservations! less
