review 1: “Toys in Space” by Mini Grey is an interesting book for children that teach them the tidiness with a nice story about the alien who collects found toys.“Toys in Space” is telling story inside the story – when several toys are left outside one night, the WonderDoll to help them not be scared of darkness, will tell them a tale about several toys been beamed onto an alien ship. Inside the alien is living who collects toys that have been left outside due to hope that by doing that it will eventually find its Cuddles toy.The toys are worried that all of them will never be able to return home but they will manage to convince the alien to return all the missing toys to their owners. Because all the toys were labelled they were able to return to those who would miss them... more, but also in the end Cuddles toy will be found as well…“Toys in Space” is a nice story that teaches children the message that it is important to label your things because in that way even if they will be lost their return will be easily possible. And also the fact that the toys were frightened because they were left alone in the dark is a convenient argument for children to remember check every night their toys if they are stored so as not for them to experience the same fate.“Toys in Space” has nice illustrations, that together with a bit unusual story and setting in which the story is happening makes Mini Grey book recommended for kids who love space, stars, or are just a bit untidy.
review 2: Kids love toys. Duh. So they are automatically drawn to just about any book about toys. Mini Grey's bright and colorful illustration will get kids' attention right off the bat, then the subject matter will suck them right in, much like an alien spaceship sucks in its victims (see below). When some toys are left outside, they are afraid terrible things will happen to them. In an effort to calm them, WonderDoll looks at the stars above them and is inspired to tell them a story. The tale is all about some toys who are left outside and taken captive by an alien who has collected a vast library of toys while in search of his own missing toy. The toys use their individual, fantastic qualities (the Blue Rabbit is clever, the Pink Horse is resourceful, the Cowboy is strong, the Dinosaur is thoughtful, and so on) to convince the Alien (named Hoctopize) to return the toys to their rightful owners, then throw the lonely alien a party to lift his spirits. Of course, the missing toy is finally found, and all is right with the world. And with other worlds, too. less
