review 1: ~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads Review Team~The cover for this book is HOT! That was the best part of the book for me. I mean the story started off good and then you get to the plot and I just wasn’t into it. I understand WHY Mace did what he did but I think it could have been solved a different way. It just wasn’t believable for one thing and it just didn’t work for me. Characters: I thought the characters were well written Sex: yes and some wasn’t consensual Religious: noWould I recommend to others: yes, just because I didn’t like it doesn’t mean someone else won’t love it. More than one book in the series: not sureGenre: dark?Would I read more by this author: yes~Wicked Reads Review Team~

... moredon’t know how long an average reader continues with a book and at what point he or she decides to stop it when the story doesn’t catch him or her. The thought to interrupt the reading and to start with another book crossed my mind on the first fifty pages. I wasn´t sure what the story is about and what to think about the book. I appreciate the story about an existing relationship. Stories about the beginning of a relationship are always fun but it´s nice for a change to read about what happens after the “honeymoon”. Everyone knows it´s easy to fall in love and start a relationship but more complicated to keep it. But something is missing at the beginning. It is just the storyline about love, sex and relationship, a simple description of the everyday life of a couple and it´s boring. I´m an enthusiast of multiple storylines with good cause because the story gets more interesting when Johnson introduces a second storyline and Leeta´s and Mace´s worlds collide. Unfortunately, I suspect it´s too late for some reader. They already stop with the book. The story is written in the first-person perspective of both characters. In the epilogue is the first-person narrative of Mace´s brother Cash introduced. Johnson´s spelling style is written well. There are no interruptions in the reading. There are some scenes that aren’t described to the end. I don’t want to spoil the story but Johnson spares the reader some horrified scenes. I´m really impressed with her decision to leave this scenes out and how she handles it.24. April 2014 less
