review 1: This was exactly as I thought it would be. Very different and very entertaining. Granted I did not understand some of the references the author used.. and some situations were just too ridiculous to be palatable.. but I still enjoyed reading this. I love it when the mc's have a great sense of humour and make jokes at their own expense. Pretty sure I'll be giving the next books in the series a try too.
review 2: Jane Jameson is having a bad day. First she’s fired from the library job she loves. That night, after drinking away her sorrows, her car breaks down and as she’s walking home, is mistaken as a deer by a drunk driving by, and is shot. Thankfully the interesting man she’d met at the bar had been following her and as she lays dying, asks her if sh
... moree’d be willing to become a vampire so she could live.I expected this be a romance with an HEA, but found after reading it that it’s a series, following Jane as she navigates her new world, dysfunctional family, quirky friends and a relationship with her sire. And each one has some aspect of a mystery to it.Humor abounds as Jane isn’t especially accepting of her changed circumstances. She’s got enough problems with her family so just how and when is she going to break the news to them? Vampires are out, but there is a great deal of fear and prejudice, and someone is out to get her.Jane’s relationship with Gabriel feels a little off and the story is somewhat jerky with her actions concerning him that sometimes seem to come out of left field. But again, this isn’t the HEA book I thought I’d be reading. Perhaps it wouldn’t have felt off if I’d known that up front. Definitely an interesting and funny story that seems to drag a little at times. But you’ve got to love the characters. less

I really loved this book. I just love Jane, she's so funny and so is her Great Aunt Jettie! I also loved Gabriel, Dick, Andrea, Jeb and Jolene! I enjoyed the story and Jane's initial adjustment to Vampire life although she still has to earn acceptance in the undead community. Poor Jane was the subject of a hate campaign in the story with some unknown targeting her to try and drive her out of the community or kill her. She also has to deal with a nightmare family, well her dad's understanding and supportive, but her mum is high strung and very interfering, constantly trying to change Jane. Her sister is also scheming and always trying to put her down, not to mention being jealous that their Aunt Jettie left her house and everything in it to Jane when her sister is quite covetous of the house and the antiques within it.I look forward to seeing how things go with her family as they have not handled news of her turning very well, well again her Dad is coping well and supportive of Jane but the rest of her living family is not dealing well with the news.I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series!

This is the first Jane Jameson book. Jane is having a bad day. She got fired from her job as the children's librarian. She was given a gift certificate for $25 and free potato skins at Shenanigans. She got drunk, met a cute guy and her car died on the way home. She got out of the car and a drunk driver thought she was a deer and shot her. She lay dying in the ditch when the cute guy shows up and makes her a vampire.Jane is not a normal kind of undead person. She gets caught up in a mess. She doesn't understand that someone is after her until she is almost killed for the second time and accused of murder twice by the vampire council. Then her parents and sister are kidnapped. Who is doing this to Jane and why?I loved this book. Jane is hilarious. Gabriel is enchanting. I love her family and friends.
