review 1: I feel I need to apologize to my friend Liz for not liking an author she recommended to me. I read a book of Molly Harper previously, & although I didn't love it, I decided to give another book a try. So I picked up Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs. I couldn't stand the leading character. Jane has book smarts, which I highly respect. However, when it comes to common sense the girl is dumb as a brick. I found her more annoying than anything else.I also didn't understand why the romantic interest kept disappearing. He'd show up for one scene where the two of them have a passionate encounter, & then he'd disappear for about 50 pages. I didn't feel like I got to know Gabriel at all & did not see why these 2 characters were attracted to each other. I just couldn't buy into ... moreit.Molly obviously goes for the humor, but it feels like she's trying too hard to make the reader laugh. I found she used the same lines over & over again. Sorry, but I have no interest in returning to Half Moon Hollow or another Molly Harper book.
review 2: Such a cheese read. Jane not Jenna (porn star) Jameson loses her job and is mistaken for a deer by a hunter on the same day. It's a bad day. Luckily for her, hot vamp Gabriel is making sure she gets home safely and she chooses undead instead of dead after being shot. There's a werewolf, a meddling mama, bottled blood, and a welcome committee to keep Jane on her toes. This was a fun and mindless read and a nice departure from the more serious "literary" reading that I've been doing lately. less
