The Sinclair Sisters of Cripple Creek
review 1: Overall this book was cute. The author stays true to her characters and plot. The opening had me stunned, that a father would recommend his daughters advertise for husbands out west. I am sure parental guidance in that direction was common vs. starvation and poverty. The author highlighted mining camp fires, which was educational and true. Cons, I did not think chapters had to be devoted to 'the bad guy', but that is just my opinion. The book is clean and I enjoyed the romance between the characters. I would read this author's work again. :)
review 2: I SO enjoyed my first Mona Hodgson read and am delighted to find that it is the first in a series. After reading the beginning of the Sinclair sisters' journey I cannot wait to find out what becomes of them
... more!Kat and Nell Sinclair are the main characters in this Christian romance where the two sisters head out West for the promise of a new life, a new beginning, and a happily ever after. When none of their plans go accordingly, these women begin to carve out a new existence for themselves and it is so interesting to watch their journey! While romance (and not heavy doses of it) are a side note, what I loved most about this novel was that faith was front and center. Ms. Hodgson doesn't shy away from it and she makes it a cornerstone of the novel.I also adored the supporting characters. Mr. Boney Hughes and Miss Hattie really add a solid foundation to the novel and are proof that there are all types of people out there and some may be the least assuming but may end up offering the most to your life. The plot is flowing and you really do just want to keep reading to find out how this story turns out. Kudos to Ms. Hodgson, you have made a fan out of me! less
