review 1: Tito Puente is a good musician in this world, there are many interesting things happened into his life. When his was baby, he made the music by the spoons and forks. He was also good at dancing that there are more and more people will be enjoy the dance and music. The paintings of this book are very vivid, readers can understand the meaning of each paper easily. There is a picture about the old Tito, it is very similar than the real Tito in the picture. In this book, it introduce Tito's achievement and awards in his whole life. Although he was born in a normal family, but his talent of music and dance cannot be ignore by people. In the end of this book, there is a sentence describe Tito. If there is no Tito, there will nobody can enjoy music and dance. So, Tito is an impor... moretant person in human history.
review 2: This book tells the story of Tito Puente, known for being the "King of the Mambo" and the "Godfather of Salsa". It tells the story of his love for making music and dancing from the time he was a boy growing up in Spanish Harlem, his time in the Navy and at Julliard, to the culmination of his dream of leading his own big band--the Tito Puente Orchestra. (He later went on to record over 100 albums and won five Grammy awards). The text on each page appears in both Spanish and English and the story is beautifully illustrated by Rafael Lopez. Lopez uses bright and rich colors to depict the scenes of Puente's childhood home, an apartment in Spanish Harlem and peppers each page with illustrations of people and animals dancing to the music. As a result, the story and pictures appear to "mambo". This book is a good choice for younger children but may leave older students wanting for more facts and details. less
