review 1: Now is a book that is part of a series, but stands alone. It is a very engaging realistic fiction book told from the point of view of a young girl named Zelda. Zelda narrates the story of her new life in Australia with her grandfather, Felix. She is living with him while her parents are helping others in Africa. The story takes place in present day Australia, but Zelda refers back to the war and the Holocaust. Her grandfather tells her stories about the past throughout the book. This book is very well written. The characters are very real to the reader and feel as if they are your friends. Reading this book is like watching a movie because the author provides such vivid details and imagery. Now is a book that is engaging because it covers a variety of themes in a thoug... morehtful way. This book can be used in the classroom to teach about the impact of war on our lives (Holocaust), bullying in middle school, family relationships, helping others, and heroes. This book is so engaging because Zelda is a character that we all can relate to. She always has the best intentions, but sometimes her intentions cause more bad than good. There are many ups and downs in this story to keep the reader on his/her toes. I definitely recommend this book.
review 2: Absolutely beautiful book. Continuing on with Felix, it focuses on his granddaughter which I loved to see how she was struggling with issues of her own (but in today's day and age such as bullying issues and friendships) but it also shows how Felix has changed and adapted to life today and how he never forgets his time during books 1 and 2..Personally I believe the fourth book should have come third. But all in all. AWESOME less
