review 1: It will be interesting to see how the series moves forward with the intentionally awful Sidney Grice and the kind/lonely March Middleton. Whether they parallel Watson and Holmes remains to be seen, but Dr Conan Doyle makes an appearance, and the murder(s) they solve is not straightforward. With teamwork, and shared knowledge --something they don't yet trust each other enough to do -- they should be on the path to success.
review 2: This was a different take on a mystery/detective novel. March Middleton is a Watson like character, a ward of the famous personal investigator Sidney Grice. She comes to London as an adult orphan into the care of Sidney and then proceeds to "help" him with some investigations. I thought it was a bit stilted and the gratuitous inse
... morertion of Dr. Conan Doyle near the end was just ridiculous. Even so, the book was entertaining. The plot turns and twists were better than most. I just didn't like Grice. At all. less

Not great literature, but great fun. Improbable as all get-out, but 99% of mysteries are.
