review 1: While it took me a little longer to get into the story for this second volume (I already loved the main character, Balsa) I am certainly glad I read it. This book really helps to flesh out Balsa's history. The last half or third of the book flew by and was very compelling reading. I am just so, so sad that they have ceased to translate the rest of this series. I'm saddest because I won't get to continue Balsa's story, but I'm also sad because the translated editions were absolutely beautiful, with some stellar translating, illustration, and graphic design. Sob.
review 2: I read the first book (Guardian of the Sacred Spirit) in this series after watching half of the anime with the same name. I really liked that book, but I wasn't sure about this one as I knew no
... morething about it. I wasn't surprised when I found out that I really liked it though! It was a really fun, fast book to read. The characters and the story where engaging, and as usual Balsa kicked ass and was awesome. If you liked the first one I definitely recommend this one.. less
