review 1: At times I didn't really like this book, it is a tragic story of misunderstanding between sisters. But as I persisted, it became a reminder, that no matter what, sisters, mothers, daughters need to forgive and try to understand each other. Holding a grudge ended up making Bertie's life more tragic than it could have been. As the book nears the end, the 4 generations of women are still showing signs of their forebears, not understanding and not forgiving. Grace at the end seems to understand how important relationships are in understanding ourselves and those around us, an intersting read.
review 2: At first I didn't think I would like this book, but ended up enjoying it. I liked the plot of the book and thought the author followed through with weaving the lives
... more and stories of the family members through the generations. Although the overall story, including the ending did not end up as I first though, it was fun to read about each character's life and try to figure out how their decisions were somehow related to the original understanding the sisters thought they had. This book reminded me to be mindful of my actions and not to make assumptions based on emotional turmoil without finding out the truth first! It is a fairly quick read and if you can keep up with the family characters telling their story, you are good to go. All in all, it was a nice summer read. less

I really liked the story and the characters but there wasn't enough depth too them.

Family secrets and misunderstanding pave the road for all us, don't they?
