review 1: I happened to stumbled upon an ARC copy of this book, and it had me hooked from the get go, and by get go I mean from the little description on the back. Naomi didn't delay the introduction of the story. She went straight to the good stuff from chapter one. The world she created is rich in mythology and intricate with fantasy description. I loved every single one of the characters, from Agniezka (the main character), to the Dragon (the mysterious wizard), to Kasia (Agniezka's best friend), to the Wood (a character in its own right). At times the description seemed a bit much, but that was because I just couldn't wait to know what was going to happen next. In fact, I read the entire book in one day. I really couldn't put it down. I laughed my head off at times, and was scar... moreed to death during other parts. All in all, a really amazing work. The romance had a nice twist with one of the characters being so cranky nearly all the time. But that just made him even more likable and real. I did have to skip one section in particular because the detailed description of the sexual scene was too much for my personal taste.
review 2: UPROOTED is like all your favorite worn-in childhood pajamas, sewn together to make a new, and yet familiar quilt to cuddle up with. I didn't want to put it down, I stretched the length of my readings and took each word slowly, like licking my fingers so as not to waste any flavor. A beautifully poetic story of fairy tales, greed, love, and understanding. I think I've found a new favorite author. Here's to hoping for a sequel! less
