review 1: I liked how the book was divided into four sections --- one section for each marriage and written from the perspective of each wife. I knew very little about Ernest Hemingway's life and this fictionalized book based on the author's research inspired me to read a little about him. I was amazed that so many women were attracted to him and that his wives were so loyal to him despite his numerous affairs.
review 2: Naomi Wood tells the reader that she created a fictional narrative to link together the four wives of Ernest Hemingway and she successfully accomplished that. I found this one somewhat lacking in substance, however, and feel that one needs other sources (Wood provides a good list at the end of the book) in order to fill in the gaps.
