review 1: Pulp is powerful. By referencing a classic example of man-rescues-damsel-in-distress storytelling and instead inserting a badass, bisexual, no-nonsense biker chick as the hero, Long highlights how ludicrous and taken for granted is the patriarchal fairy-tale. This is all packaged into an exciting and action-filled narrative, retaining its niche as pure, satisfying pulp. In this way, it not only satirizes and critiques themes of literature, storytelling, and society, but offers a fitting and appropriate alternative for those that are looking for a good, pulpy action-fantasy.I gave it 3 stars simply as a matter of personal tastes - if rating the book based on accomplishing it's mission, I would give it 4 or 4.5/5.

... moreprised by a free ebook I pick on on B&N website. I have had this in my 'library' for quite some time and finally decided to check it out. I honestly could not put this book down until it was over. Funny in places, a little romance, weird creatures and all. This book grabbed my attention from the first page. Love all the metaphors used, some made me laugh out loud. less
