review 1: I had no idea there was going to be another book. But just as our lives evolve, so does this story. As a mom of unwindable kids, this story just rips my heart out over and over, wondering 'what if' and I just can't imagine it happening. But so many crazy things have happened in history, you never know. I just hope that no one with this author's imagination is in charge of making those kinds if decisions. Read the entire series.
review 2: I have to admit that I read quite few other reviews before writing my own and I was surprised to see how many other people were emotionally compromised by the ending of this series! This book goes way beyond the wow factory and rates right up there in phenomenal! After reading the first three books, I really didn't think it c
... moreould get any better, and I will admit when I am wrong...I was dead wrong! The trouble with writing a review of this nature is you don't want to give any spoilers for anyone who might be at earlier books. With that said, Shusterman does a great job and focusing in on the main characters and really giving the reader what they want, closure. Through the series each character has evolved so much that if you go back to the beginning, you could hardly recognize them. That is the beauty of this series. You start out with many average teens just trying to survive but the develop into very powerful people, each choosing what it is they stand for, and having their own means to reach their goals. But this last book is also about changing more than just a few teens. The book's main goal (I feel anyway) is to show that change is sometimes a long time coming but is always possible. Each action builds to something much bigger than you would ever expect. Don't judge solely on by its individual parts (though each part of this is wonderful), it is the sum of those parts that makes it become great and this is a prime example of that idea. Many things which readers thought were long forgotten will be dredged up again and brought out into the spotlight and how powerful they are!I feel a sense of loss by walking away from this series but I also leave it feeling very much undivided! less
