review 1: (A note: I read the free eBook version of this guide)Exactly what the title says, a usefully short guide to software pricing. To be specific, you're NOT going to read this, close the cover, and write down the number you want on your invoice, which is what most people who read this (myself included) are probably after.Instead, this book is a self-encapsulated simple economic analysis of software pricing models. The reader gets a brief crash-course on microeconomics, demand curves, etc., and then this basic toolset is used to consider software pricing. The caveat is that the simplicity of these economic models is exactly what makes them almost completely useless with real customers and real products. That's where the rest of the book comes in, explaining the subtleties o... moref marketing software. Examples include competitor price wars, price discrimination, product differentiation, and why student pricing is probably going to apply not only to students, but anybody who has ever been or known a student. To re-iterate: If you want to figure out what to charge for your software, this book isn't going to tell you. But if you want a basic literacy in all the considerations that go into picking a price, this is a great place to start, and an interesting read even if you're not planning on selling anything at all.
review 2: Don’t Just Roll your Dice is a short book on understanding and creating a pricing strategy for products your organization has created. This can by any product software or anything that you plan to sell. This power packed guide has five chapters that details into1. Basics of pricing2. Finding out what’s your product worth? in other words what is the right price for your products3. Pitfalls that one needs to avoid4. Various ways one can price their products and choosing the right strategy5. Once you have arrived at a price then, how to make sure you are able to change the same without affecting your sales.Even though this one is a small book, but eventually covers concepts I wanted to learn. Overall a very good book for some one who needs to learn on how to create a pricing strategy for their products. less
