When I first saw the topic for this week, I was super excited to give this really unique topic a go. It was really interesting to try and really think about which bookish settings I would love to visit, and I loved looking back at some of my favourite settings. Alot of these settings are from fantasy books, and so are pretty spectacular and fantastical worlds, but there are still a few on here that are a little more realistic, but still amazing, and places that I would love to visit nonetheless.
So here are some bookish settings that I would love to visit!
One of my favourite things about this book was the beautiful atmosphere it managed to create, so its no surprise that it is a setting I would love to visit if I could. I’d just love to visit the sandy beaches along which the water horses run, and all the cliffs and the fields, and to just experience this amazing place for myself.
As I read more and more of these books, and get deeper and deeper into this world, I can’t help but fall more in love with it. I can’t imagine how amazing the glass palace in Adarlan would be, or the gorgeous mountains over which Manon flies, and would love to be able to see and experience this entire world for myself.
In all honestly, I would like to visit every single place in this series, but if I had to choose one it would have to Cabeswater. It’s just such a magical place with so many hidden secrets, and just can’t imagine how beautiful it would really be.
Yes, Amsterdam is a real place, but I would love to visit the city in the time period that it is set, in the late 1600’s. This book is just so atmospheric, and makes me so desperate to visit this gorgeous city, the canal, the church, and just all the places that are mentioned in this story.
Every time I read a book in this world, it just makes me want to visit it more and more. I’ve loved reading about every different part of this world, from Ravka in Shadow and Bone to Ketterdam in Six of Crows, and can’t imagine how amazing it would to visit it for myself.
Just the description of this gorgeous Victorian setting was enough to make me desperate to visit it for myself. I love how it is situated in an old abandoned church, and can just imagine it as this beautiful building that just sounds so gorgeous and magical.
Finally, as someone who really likes the wintertime and snow, this setting is definitely one I would love to visit. The whole place just has such a magical atmosphere, and seems like such a spectacular place with buildings constantly covered in beautiful snow and fires burning inside cabins.
