review 1: very weird ... lots of scientific talk about nanoparticles and molecules and brain waves , the mind control of people and animal's through the nanoparticles ect ect ..mostly confusing ...and most of the talk about Toms understanding of it all was not very helpful to me.. and way over my head .. the book was kinda stupid in a sense ... the important parts ended abruptly and then other parts dragged on ... and it was mostly with talk about the scientific stuff . plus the scientist who invented this mind control is now running parralax a movie company and he's making a movie . it is just all too confusing ... I would have done it way differently thats for sure.
review 2: A rollicking tense thriller with noir aspects over laid with the cutting edge frontier of
... moreparticle physics and how they appear to affect consciousness. A great setting-Malibu, Santa Monica and Hollywood- and a movie set in the Santa Monica Mountains. Great themes and characters: a wealthy founding family of Los Angeles, a famous director, a famous particle physicist who left the Max Planck Institute...to make movies, an actress (ingenue), various unseen political power brokers, and a deep Russian (former Soviet) mole implanted into American culture. Melding noir with cutting edge concepts in a seamless weave populated with well developed characters in a captivating setting makes for great escapism. less

Didn't like this book at all. Weird premise.....well-written, but I didn't like the whole story.
