review 1: A young, single mother receives news of her grandfather's death. She must return to the kingdom where he had been a duke to arrange a funeral and supervise her father, who checks off every alcoholic cliche in the book. Over the course of a week the single mother and her six year old son bond and fall in love with one of the kingdom's princes. It all happens really fast. And there you have it: I was bored. This story did nothing new. It rushed by and expected you to believe in it. Or to feel something about it... And I, just, could not. To conclude, I think I will always be the reader who wishes this series had been continued with Samantha's narrative voice. She and Alex had my favorite love story of the series, and I think it could have gone over very successfully to follo... morew her growth as a new royal.
review 2: Like Suddenly Royal and Recklessly Royal before it, Reluctantly Royal was a super cute read. Max is definitely my favorite of the D’Lynsal siblings and I loved reading about him and Meredith. They were just as adorable as Sam and Alex and Cathy and David before them. Meredith was also my favorite of the girls. I really felt for her because of the fact that she had to grow up with and deal with such a horrible father but given her horrible home situation I was really proud of the fact that she was still able to make something of herself and be a wonderful mother to Marty despite all the negativity from her father. Talking about Marty, he really stole my heart. He was such an adorable little six-year-old and all the interactions between him and Max warmed my heart especially since Max originally wasn't that big fan of children. Needless to say, I loved this book and out of the three books in this wonderful series by Nichole Chase, Max and Meredith's story was definitely my favorite! less
