review 1: A funny and entertaining read!First off I should probably say that you shouldn’t read this book if you are the kind of person who has to take things seriously. If you are this book would drive you nuts. For me it was a funny and sweet read once I looked past the horrible improbability of it all. The book features Ava, a young American girl who has moved to London to try and kick-start her life after several years of going nowhere. She is funny, sweet, compassionate, and kind. Her only flaw is a propensity for bad language and a bit of klutziness which ends up leading her to accidentally assassinating her neighbour and fulfilling a contract on his life. This is how she ends up involved with Owen, the assassin with a conscience and a bit of a sweet romantic side, who had o... moreriginally intended to carry out the contract himself. Before long, they are running for their lives from people who apparently want Ava dead. The story carries on from there and has a great mix of action, romance, and humour I greatly enjoyed. The only thing I found a bit silly was how casually Ava took all the craziness that suddenly showed up in her life. It wasn’t very realistic but I think the accidental assassination that kicks off the story took care of making sure this story exists far outside the normal realms of possibility.Overall this was a funny and entertaining read I’d recommend if you’re looking for a sweet new adult romance with a bit of humour and action to it. Don’t read it if crazy ideas and improbabilities drive you nuts.
review 2: I was totally captivated with this book from the minute I picked it up. I read it from cover to cover and never put it down. Many of us have been in the spot Ava is, no I don't mean the one where you accidentally find yourself as an assassin! I mean where you find yourself in a rut! She is just going through the motions of life and doing the same things over and over, ordering the same stuff and never ever trying anything new. When she is asked by her friend to house sit she decides, this is it! This is what I need to shake up my life. To finally do it, try something new, put some spice in my life! She sets a plan in motion to try everything she can, never imagining exactly it would lead to her to the arms of an assassin....The book had some of everything romance, drama, banter, suspense, sexiness, action, humor - it was the perfect mix to keep you thoroughly entertained. Ava and Owen, while an unlikely couple are just wonderful together. They bring out the best in each other. And the side characters were fabulous as well! And truly added to the story. You really find yourself rooting for them. I did not want this one to end!I received a complimentary copy, in exchange for an honest review. less
