review 1: this is a delicate little nightmare of a book. its got a great land-of-the-dead thing happening, like all my favorite jonathan carroll and kevin brockmeier themes, but a little less playful; a little scarier. i finished it and immediately reread the first 100 pages, so i suggest you do the same. however, too many uses of the word "desultory", which is just a word i have a personal aversion to. twice in one sentence will make my skin crawl...
review 2: I don't generally like horror, or books that deal with the supernatural, or books that have dogs on the cover. I especially liked the interactions of Bram and Marian. I found Adam to be obnoxious, and I think that was the author's intention. Now that I've seen one Word Riot Press title, I'm willing to give the rest a try—and I guess that's all I have to say. It's a worthy way to spend a day. less

Frightening and compelling… a wonderful mix of the real and surreal.

Read the book. Ghost and a night drive played out wonderfully.
