review 1: Great fun. Feels like an author's cut that needs a stiff edit. Too many digressive monologues and paragraphs, even pages of schoolboy observations that could get tedious and nearly cost it two stars. But it feels churlish to mark down a book that managed to successfully get evil ninjas fighting special forces trained gong fu practitioners for the fate of an imaginatively sculpted world. At its best it read like a successful collaboration between Terry Pratchet, Neil Gaiman and Bruce Lee.
review 2: I will have to read this again. A dystopian future when the world as we understand it has `gone away' and people fight to retain what is left of the world we think we know. Or do they? I found the over detailed descriptions sometimes confused the understanding of an
... morealready complex plot and therefore I need to return to this story at a later date when I can give it more attention. The fact that I am willing to reread it however does indicate that that it is well worth extra time. less

This is the first book I've really loved in a long time. Very unlike everything else.
