review 1: Nick Harkaway is quickly becoming one of my new favorite authors. Angelmaker joins Gone Away World as another of the best books I've read this year. I'm really looking forward to Tigerman. It took me a bit to get into it, but once I did it was absolutely amazing right up until the very end. Excellent story, intriguing characters, fascinating settings, and Harkaway's own compelling style of writing make this one for the keeper shelf.
review 2: Joseph Joshua Spork makes an engaging, if unwilling, hero. The Apprehension Engine gives the phrase "Too much information" a whole new meaning. Quite an unnerving yarn. Not sure if I buy the dualist reality idea of artisian craftsmanship vs. industrialisation. Not sure if I buy or even understand what the author was tr... moreying to say about knowing God... but I really like Joe, Polly, Polly's brother, Edie and Bastian. No, I Love Bastian, and his pugnacious Pug-ness, and the occassional peek at what he's thinking,- his delusions of grandeur and self-righteous fury. less
