review 1: Half of an audio book's success or failure rests with the narrator(s), and these three are excellent. I particularly enjoyed the exchanges between Annie and Duncan. The dialogue crackled with humor. I wish the novel had remained with this couple, without the introduction of the wayward and vapid washed up American rock star, but sadly that wasn't too be. Sigh. The ending is also a bit challenging in audio format especially with the annoying music running throughout the last track. Overall, an entertaining and lightweight audio book that kept me good company on a dreadful daily commute.
review 2: As a fan of Nick Hornby's work, this book didn't disappoint. The story took a while to get going but once it did, I was involved into the characters and their lives. I
... moredid find that the end of the story, "hit a brick wall" and sort of left the story feeling unfinished, as if there is more to come here. Perhaps that was the point of the story, since it revolved around a musician who had "walked away". In some respects that's what seems to have happened with the story here, in my opinion. less

3.5 stars. Not Hemingway, but a fun beach book about a music obsessed fan and has been rock star
